This lavishly carved Concert Grand Piano was built by the prominent Kranich and Bach Piano Company in 1890. Kranich and Bach built high quality, expensive pianos in New York from about 1864-1981, and this piano would have been about the most expensive instrument money could buy! This instrument has been painted yellow by a previous owner, but is made of heavily carved Brazilian Rosewood hidden under the yellow painted finish. It is made in the exceedingly rare Baroque Style with heavily carved Louis XV style legs and triple scalloped case. One can only imagine how beautiful this instrument will be after total restoration. These Kranich and Bach instruments were among some of the finest, most well made piano of the Victorian era and they are quite rare today.
